Rebekah Cheevers, MS, IADC, LMHC, NCC, CCMHC

I bring over 18 years of experience in the social services field, working with individuals across a wide range of needs and settings. My background includes habilitation services for individuals with chronic mental illness and developmental disabilities, job coaching, supervision of residential and direct care staff, and providing services within HCBS residential programs. I have also facilitated recovery groups in a treatment setting and provided counseling for both substance use disorders and mental health concerns. In addition, I serve as an adjunct psychology instructor at Des Moines Area Community College.

My experience extends to coordinating care with hospitals, supporting families, collaborating with case management teams, and helping clients navigate transitions between residential providers and levels of care. These experiences have shaped a well-rounded, collaborative approach to treatment.

My clinical approach is grounded in person-centered care, with a strong emphasis on building a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship. I believe genuineness and empathy are essential to meaningful progress. Together, we will identify your goals and work at a pace that feels right for you, creating a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered.

I specialize in working with individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and somatic-based techniques, tailoring treatment to meet your unique needs.

Taking the first step toward therapy requires courage, and I want to acknowledge that. I am here to meet you where you are and to walk alongside you in your journey toward healing and growth. When you feel ready, I welcome you to reach out—I look forward to connecting with you.
